General feeding rules
- Feed small portions your fish can finish in about 1–2 minutes.
- Most community fish do well with 1–2 feedings per day.
- Remove excess food so it does not break down in the tank.
- Rotate foods instead of relying on a single formula every day.
Match food to the fish
- Surface feeders often do best with flakes or floating micro pellets.
- Bottom dwellers need sinking foods designed for their feeding style.
- Invertebrates benefit from specialized foods, wafers, and natural grazing surfaces.
- Predatory or larger species may need protein-heavy foods and a slower feeding rhythm.
